10 Reasons to Visit Faliraki

Faliraki is the primary beach resort in Rhodes on the east coast of the island and promises unforgettable, action-packed holidays. This tourist destination has plenty of activities for young people to really let their hair down as well as fun for all the family. Only 7 miles from the town of Rhodes, Faliraki could be something you’re considering for a day visit, however read our full list below to see how you could spend an entire week (or more!) on this exciting part of the island.
- Astronomy Café
Like learning something new on your holidays? Based at the highest point of Faliraki, this themed restaurant and gardens becomes an observatory with plenty of interesting astrological discoveries to be had through the telescope. Tours and moon observations will provide some of the most memorable experiences of your holiday while also giving you something fun to do once the sun goes down.
Fun Fact: this peaceful and informative night out has been described as one of the best experiences in Faliraki.
- Nightlife
If strolling through starry lit gardens is not for you, perhaps the Faliraki nightlife is more your cup of tea. The area can be popular with party-goers, although does not have the same reputation as nearby rival party islands. The clubs and bars provide excellent cocktails, dancing, shisha bars, sports bars and themed bars alike.
Fun Fact: There is one street for bars and one for clubs, named Bar Street and Club Street!
- Faliraki Waterpark
Popular with adults and children alike, the Faliraki waterpark is a popular tourist destination and one not to be missed. Explore over 100 square metres of waterpark fun, including high speed slides, relaxing zones and children play areas.
Fun Fact: Faliraki waterpark is the largest waterpark in Greece.
- Saint Nectarios Church
Tours of the Saint Nectarios Church give you the perfect chance to soak up some Greek history and culture during your stay. Enjoy the quiet and serene environment, light a candle for a lost loved one and listen to the peaceful music playing. Hand painted frescoes, gardens and stunning architecture await, so don’t forget your camera.
Fun Fact: a hollow platane stands at the front – can you fit inside?
- Beach – Anthony Quinn Bay
Take after the Hollywood star and snorkel in this gorgeous blue cove. Follow the stairway down to the beach and you will find yourself on a sheltered private beach. The crystal clear, turquoise waters make it a perfect location for scuba diving and discovering the wildlife beneath the surface of the ocean.
Fun Fact: scenes from the film ‘Guns of Navarone’ were filmed here with actor Anthony Quinn, which is how the bay got its name.
- Beach – Traounou Beach
Much larger than Anthony Quinn Bay, this has more space and is often quieter than other beaches. This long, flat beach is pebble rather than sand, however it has good facilities and a café, as well as plenty of sunbeds for hire.
Fun Fact: surrounding areas also have a few small caves and military lookouts – can you find any?
- Beach – Mandomata Beach
This nudist beach does not have any watersports, major facilities or bars, but you will have access to restrooms and sunbed hire.
Fun Fact: in order to escape the nosey onlookers, Mandomata beach does not allow any clothes! This means you MUST be naked in order to go on the beach.
- Water Sports & Boat Hire
Faliraki is full of dare devils looking for their next adventure. Boat hire can be relatively cheap and on the main beach at Faliraki there are plenty of water sport opportunities. From pedal boats to banana boats, the level of excitement you wish to take is totally up to you.

- Off-Roading Tours
Faliraki’s Land Rover Safari is hugely popular as you combine Greek culture with 4x4 thrills. Spend the day seeing the island’s hotspots and scenery in a completely new way. This is also a great chance to try some local delicacies and experience traditions, as the tour isn’t just about the thrills and spills.
Fun Fact: sit at the back of the jeep if you want the bumpiest ride!
- Kallithea Springs
A 10 minute drive up the north coast of Faliraki and you will find yourself at Kallithea Springs. A 3 Euro entry charge gives you access to a beautiful beach, surrounded by the historic architecture as well as the springs that are renowned for their therapeutic properties. This is the perfect place to escape the crowds. Kallithea Springs also has plenty of amenities on site as well as sunbed hire.
Fun Fact: The surrounding buildings were famously designed by architect Petrio Lombardy.
